The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
