Several casualties in custody have been widely reported, such as a 50-year-old hospital director who perished in prison after four months in confinement.

A prisoner detained alongside the individual stated that he was taken to the yard by prison staff shortly before his demise, visibly injured and exposed from the waist down. His remains has not been returned to Gaza.

Additional detainees who died in Israeli custody are unidentified. The prison service and military supplied investigators with the number of deaths in custody, and basic additional information such as the facility where they lost their lives, but excluding the inmates’ personal details.

Recognition Difficulties
